ABOUT

Dr. Whittaker offers teletherapy in 41 US States where she is a Licensed Psychologist (visit psypact.com for information about specific states). She started her career as an elementary school teacher. As a New York State certified teacher, she felt she was not adequately meeting the needs of students, as they brought challenges to the classroom that could not be handled by a teacher. As a result, she pursued studies in psychology to learn how to address the challenges that inhibit a child’s learning and development. She obtained her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at The Graduate Center, City University of New York. Prior to this, she obtained her M.S. in School Psychology at Queens College and a B.S. in Psychology at Mercy College.

Thus, although her passion started out with working with children and adolescents, Dr. Whittaker after spending some time providing mental health services for adults and couples have expanded the lines of service provided. To this end, Dr. Whittaker engaged in courses of study to expand her knowledge of working with families, in particular, with couples. Being able to intervene and give hope in a marriage is one of her greatest joys.
